What is Calcudoku?
Calcudoku is an arithmetic logic puzzle, also called Mathdoku or KenKen-style puzzles. Like sudoku, every row and every column of an N×N grid holds the numbers 1 to N exactly once. Unlike sudoku, the grid is split into outlined cages, each with a target number and an operation — and the digits inside the cage must combine to that target.
How to play
- Fill each row and column with the numbers 1 to N, with no repeats.
- Make every cage reach its target using its operation: + add, − subtract, × multiply or ÷ divide. Subtraction and division cages are always two cells, taken larger number first.
- A single-cell cage is a given — just write its number in.
- Start with small cages and givens, then use row and column eliminations to finish the grid.

Six grid sizes from 4×4 Starter to 9×9 Master and three difficulty levels let you build a progressive arithmetic puzzle book, with a matching answer page for every puzzle and clean print-ready output.
Classroom worksheets
Calcudoku turns times tables and number bonds into a logic game. Easy grids practise addition only; harder grids mix in subtraction, multiplication and division for mental-math fluency.
Calcudoku FAQ
Is Calcudoku the same as Mathdoku?
Yes. Calcudoku and Mathdoku are two names for the same arithmetic cage puzzle: fill a Latin-square grid so every cage hits its target number with the operation shown.
Does every generated puzzle have exactly one solution?
Yes. Each puzzle is checked for uniqueness before it is shown, so solvers can always reach the answer by logic alone, with no guessing.
Which grid size should I use for kids or beginners?
Start with the 4x4 Starter grid on Easy, which uses addition cages only. Move up to 5x5 and 6x6 as solvers gain confidence; the 9x9 Master grid on Hard mixes all four operations for experienced puzzlers.
Can I print an answer key?
Yes. Tick Show answers in the settings panel to render the same puzzle with its solution filled in, ready to use as the answer page of a book or worksheet.
